 Happy Friday!

**It is strongly advised that students have a French/English dictionary.

Here is a summary of what we did this week.  It is always advised to review with your child what they have seen in class.  Handouts, answer keys, notes and assignments given during the week are posted on Google Classroom every Friday.

Due dates:
  • For every students who didn't present their Shoebox Project yet, some of you will present Monday, the rest will present Tuesday (The list is in Google Classroom)

Math : Students received their textbook last Tuesday and worked on few numbers in it.

Science: We are nearly at the end of the wetlands unit.  Student did an evaluation and started a quick research about one animal or plant from the wetlands.

ELA: We listened to some of the Shoebox presentations.  Students learned about similes.  They also started doing an acrostic poem with their name and writing similes for each sentence.

FLA:  We reviewed the nouns and went over the answers on the booklet they received.  We also talked about reading strategies when reading a text and also practiced them with a text about Terry Fox.  Students had a listening assignment (Tintin et les cigares du pharaon).

Google Classroom: Students need to join our Google Classroom by using their EDUCBE email account and enter this code : yp5myaw

Yearbook cover contest: Students have the chance to draw a cover for the yearbook.  If they want to participate, they need to submit their work for October 5th.

Orange Shirt Day will be on September 30th, wear an orange shirt if you can.

Happy Friday!

**It is strongly advise that students have a French/English dictionary.

Here is a summary of what we did this week.  It is always advised to review with your child what they have seen in class.  Handouts, notes and assignments given during the week are posted on Google Classroom every Friday.

Due dates:
  • There will be a test in Science on Thursday, September 24th (we will review the notes in class next week).
  • Shoebox Project start date is September 22nd.  (See the presentation dates on Google Classroom)

Math : We have seen 5 different ways to represent numbers (standard form, word form, place value chart, expanded form and object representation/base 10 blocks).

Science: We are still in the wetland unit.  We talked about the animal kingdom (mammals, fish, amphibians, reptiles and birds), the life cycles of a few wetlands animals and the food chain.

ELA: We started the ''All About Me'' unit.  They wrote a super short story about one thing they experienced during the summer.  They will have to prepare, at home, the ''Shoebox project'' for next Tuesday (start date for the presentations is September 22nd, more details on Google Classroom).

FLA: We worked on the noun (gender and number, proper noun, common noun).  Some students presented their two statements (one false, one true) and the others, after a few questions, had to figure out which one was false.

Google Classroom: Students need to join our Google Classroom by using their EDUCBE email account and enter this code : yp5myaw

 Happy Friday!

This week we did several diagnostic evaluations in each core subject.  We also talked about what are the wetlands and how important they are in Science.  We also worked on the noun in FLA, and how to represent numbers by using base 10 blocks in Math.

Students should look into Google Classroom to have access to the notes (when we complete them in class) and worksheets.

Each Friday, I would like to do speaking or listening activities.  Be aware that I may ask students to be prepared in advance.

For next Friday, I would like students to prepare one truth, and one lie about themselves.  We will be doing this activity for several Fridays until everyone has told their statements.  More details about this activity on Google Classroom.

**I want to also remind you that it is strongly advised that students have their own dictionaries (French, French/English) and a Bescherelle.  Those resources will be useful for future years in the French immersion program.**

Welcome to 5-2

I want to welcome you to the 5-2 blog.

In here, you will read a summary of what was done during the week and give a few reminders for the coming week.

This week's purpose was to greet the students and do some community building activities.  Next week, students will do assignments that will give me, as a teacher, an idea of where they are at right now academically.

* Students should have at least an English/French dictionary, and I strongly suggest they also have a French one too.

Reminders:

- Bring a water bottle

- Make sure you have all the items on the school supplies list.

Have a nice weekend, and see you on Tuesday!
